Informal forced returns – pushbacks at Greece’s land and sea borders constitute a systematic practice that violently denies refugees access to asylum and violates their rights, including the right to life. In recent years, there have been repeated condemnatory rulings – including from the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), where landmark cases represented by RSA have been won – as well as a multitude of documented complaints concerning violations of fundamental rights and the ineffective investigation of cases within the Greek justice system.
