Between 10-11 May 2018, the Last Rights Project held an historic meeting on Lesvos island, to discuss and agree a new declaration of rights for all those who have suffered loss as a result of migration journeys. Experts from across 4 continents as well as from Lesvos and the Greek mainland attended and contributed to the preparation of the final text, previous drafts of which had been opened for public consultation.
As a result, a new international declaration was made and has been named The Mytilini Declaration.
The Declaration applies to any place in the world where refugee and migrant families experience such tragedies but is named after Lesvos because of the compassion and care that the people of the island have demonstrated in such extraordinary circumstances.
RSA team members participated in the preparation process and signed the final document. A copy of The Mytilini Declaration in Greek and in English signed by the participants can be found here
